Description
So... I've always wanted to make one of these. And show off my mad skills or something.
1. Very rough sketch. Notice that a lot of elements change in the next step.
2. Cleaned-up sketch. Drawn on top of the first one, cleaning up the details. This goes fairly quickly for me on the tablet.
3. Inking. I like inking.
4. Flats. I do all the flats on one layer.
5. Shades. The shades are done on a separate layer. I use a range of similar colors that fit the lighting, and keep the layer set to 'multiply.' Use a soft brush. I've only just recently started using this technique, so I'm still learning a lot.
6. Background. A nice slapped-on background using the gradient tool, and some added tones of my own. I was going to go all out, but I really need to plan a background beforehand if I'm going to do that.
So there you have it.
Dante and Requiem for Innocence (c) Chris S. Case (And Ginny Case, too.)
