Riven Winstrom

History:
Riven was born and raised in Bayou City. His parents were average folks, but a tragic accident left Riven in the custody of the local orphanage. Not one to let such things bother him, he left when he was 18, and became a police office by 19. He worked hard, refused bribes, and generally made life hell for criminals.

He met Linore through her father, a moonshiner. Riven was arresting him at the time, when Linore cane bursting out of the house, holding a piece of wood in her hands. She swore she would beat Riven senseless unless he let her father go. Seeing he was clearly out matched, he agreed that if he was invited for dinner, the arrest could wait until later in the evening. Linore’s father, being a discerning man, agreed. Riven made several trips to the house to arrest Linore’s father, all of which were eventually thwarted by dinner, and on one rather special evening, dessert.

Things were going exceptionally well until one morning when Riven walked into the police station, only to be arrested on the spot. He was tried and convicted of dereliction of duty, and corruption. The sentence was three years. He went to jail with most of the criminals he'd put behind bars. Needless to say, he had to learn to be quick and sharp to keep from getting killed. (He has more than his fair share of scars, mostly from stabbing wounds in his torso.) Now, he's been released, and... well, he's got a plan.

Strengths:
Riven is a decent shot with a pistol, and a better shot with a rifle. He's quick, but not inhumanly so. When necessary, he tends to take a non lethal blow, instead of trying to avoid it. His main skill is his wit, charm, and fast thinking. And, when that doesn't work, he punches people.

Weaknesses:
Riven is, in his heart, still a 'good' guy. He won't kill unless pushed over the edge, and he he tends to underestimate his opponent. He would also point out that he's rather susceptible to "pointy or stabby" things.


Linore Charon

History:
Linore was born in a small town outside of Bayou. Her mother died in childbirth, so it was just her, her father, and her grandmother. Once she was old enough to walk and talk, her father took her and moved into the city to earn more money. What Linore came to discover as she grew older was that the means by which she was raised was earned in a less-than-legal manner. Her father was a moonshiner, brewing illegal liquor and selling it. This didn't phase Linore all too much. She had already begun to learn that if you need something, sometimes you have to do nasty things in order to get it.

However, do something illegal long enough, eventually you're bound to get caught. And while there are plenty of crooked cops around Bayou City, who can be bought with a few bucks, there were still a couple decent people on the force. And one of them found her Pa. Officer Winstrom was just getting to arresting her father, when she ran out at him with a piece of wood, ready to knock the crap out of the stupid cop. Instead, they all had dinner. Riven came over for dinner quite often after that. Linore rather enjoyed having him over after a while. In fact, soon she started to really enjoy his company.
Then, they took him away.

Riven was in prison for three years. At first, she felt sort of guilty about it. Then, she realized feeling like crap did her no good, and she moved on. Her father was now brewing for a man called Biggs, a real hot shot. So much of a hot shot, in fact, that neither she nor her father ever saw the man. His associates would be the ones to pick up the goods. The money wasn't too bad, either. And soon Linore found herself doing odd jobs for some of Biggs' lackeys. She also found herself dating quite a few of his lackeys. It made sense. It was a dangerous world, these guys were much better equipped to defend her.
But sometimes, late at night, she'd sigh, and remember that one guy who actually made her smile...
That stupid son of a bitch.


Strengths:
Linore knows how to operate most basic firearms, though she hasn't been in a firefight yet. She's also pretty dexterous, and quick on her feet. Her biggest strength, however, is that she is quick-witted and can come up with a plan in a pinch. She is also knowledgeable about how things work in the criminal underground, and can navigate it in a way Riven can not.

Weaknesses:
As previously stated, Linore has yet to actually gather much practical experience with firearms. Also, with her slight build, she is not particularly strong, and has considerably low stamina. Linore may be more tactful than Riven, but she has a short temper, and sometimes her mouth moves faster than her brain.
